Fwd: Ration dealers

From India News Network (INN)

New Delhi, February 21: The Working committee meeting of All India Fair Price Shop dealers' Federation was held on February 20, 2009 at New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion Sitaram Yechury, pointed out the anti-PDS policy of the earlier NDA government and the present UPA government. He expressed serious concern over the hike in the open market prices of food items and other essential commodities in the context of the present policy of the UPA government to continuously slash down the APL allotment of Rice and wheat for the states insptie of having bumper procurement. The anti-people policy of the UPA government to allow procured foodgrains to waste in the open market and sell then in free sale in preference to PDS was widely criticized and de-cried. The contemplation of UPA government to redefine the BPL eligibility by bringing down the monthly income criteria Rs.600/- in Urban areas and Rs.400/- in rural areas was felt to be a dangerous move.
