Five CPI(M) Activists Killed In West Bengal

Kolkata ,19 March: Five CPI(M) leaders and activists have killed within a span of few hours in West Bengal on Wednesday. In a series of attacks in different districts, the Congress-Trinamool-Maoist gang up has shown their real face.

In Baharampur ,Murshidabad district , CPI(M) local committee secretary Gopal Mondal has been killed by Congress assailants. He was fired from a close range. With him, three local committee secretaries of the Party have been killed in Baharampur parliamentary constituency in last five months, clearly indicating a well-planned conspiracy. Adhir Choudhry, the sitting Congress MP from this seat had been accused in several cases of murder. It is assumed that Congress is trying to create a reign of terror before the Loksava elections. Incidentally, the Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherji is contesting from Jangipur constituency of the same district and he launched his campaign yesterday, Left Front has wrested Murshidabad district council from Congress in last Panchayat elections.

In another incident at Raina Block of Burdwan district, CPI (M) activist Sohrab Dewan was killed and 7 others were grievously injured when Trinamool supporters attacked a procession of the CPI (M). The procession was organized as part of a statewide protest against the bomb blast by the separatist forces earlier in the day at Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri district. Trinamool activists attacked the procession with sharp weapons in their hand. Sohrab dewan was an agricultural worker and activist of Kisan Sabha.

Maoists struck at about 6.30 pm in Belpahari block of West Midnapore. Two CPI (M) members were gunned down when they were drinking tea in a local shop. One of the deceased Durga Deshwalli was a local committee member of the CPI (M). The other, Santosh Mahato, was a member of the Party. Both of them were returning from a Party gathering. Maoist assailants pumped bullet into their chest at point blank range.Maoists are active in the area and they had threatened CPI(M) activists to leave the Party.

A DYFI activist Bijay Shau was killed in Titagarh in North 24 Parganas .He was there to attend a meeting of the youth organization when bombs were hurled. DYFI has called for a statewide protest day on Friday.
