BJP comes out in support for separate state

BJP supports separate state in West Bengal
New Delhi,Kolkata,3rd. April-BJP has come out openly in support of the separatist agitation in Darjeelinh hills. The party, in its election manifesto has categorically said that they will ‘sympathetically examine and appropriately consider the long pending demands of the Gorkhas, the adivasis and other people of Darjeeling district and Doors region”. The assurance has come under the sub heading ‘small states’ in BJP election manifesto.” In response to this Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) ,spearheading the movement has agreed to be a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and support BJP candidate Jaswant Singh for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat .
Announcing his party’s stand, while releasing the BJP poll manifesto here on Friday, the party's prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani said the decision was reached after discussions with top GJM leaders.
GJM president Bimal Gurung and general secretary Roshan Giri have been camping in Delhi for the last two days, to hold discussions with the BJP. BJP president Rajnath Singh announced earlier at the same venue that Jaswant Singh - now the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha - will be the party's candidate from the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat.
